Situated in the heart of the city centre on Edinburgh’s funkiest street, located just 200 yards from Waverley Rail station and Airlink Bus Stop.
With an abundance of shops, record stores, cafés, pubs and clubs on the doorstep. Set in a 19th century building in the heart of the World Heritage Listed Old Town, our hostel is located 50 metres from the Royal Mile, the ancient thoroughfare and main pulse of this cosmopolitan city. With the train station and airport shuttle bus being less than two minutes away we are conveniently located for transport, making Edinburgh Backpackers Hostel easy to find, but difficult to leave.
During the day you can explore the world-renowned Castle, Holyrood Palace, Cathedral and Princes Street area, all a short stroll from the hostel. Then when the sun goes down all the main pubs and restaurants are right there for your enjoyment.

The good news is that there's no curfew so you're free to explore the city until the wee hours of the morning. We also have a self-catering kitchen, poolroom and a chill out lounge area with internet and Sky TV. If you don't feel like cooking there is a café/bar attached to the hostel called the Southern Cross Café. Come here for a bite to eat, a relaxing drink, or to do some emailing on the Internet. We have an extensive menu and a wide range of drinks to offer. All Hostel guests also receive a 15% discount off their food bill.

Edinburgh Backpackers hostel is situated in the heart of the city, on Cockburn street, a picturesque street created as a serpentine link between Waverley Station and the Royal Mile. On the lefts side of our main building there is one of the more famous Edinburgh's closes: Fleshmarket. From here you can walk to all major attractions in minutes. Take a walk through Princes Street gardens under the shadow of Edinburgh Castle and explore Edinburgh’s wonderful attractions.
